Digital Day of Rest
Could you unhook yourself from the online world for one evening a week? Just walk away from your laptop and not be tempted to check your email or update your blog? There is a brave new movement attempting to get us online geeks to do just that. It is called 52 Nights Unplugged and it asks us to disconnect one evening a week and re-connect with the real world.
What would you do with your one evening of offline time? Take up an art class ? Or would you hold weekly dinner parties for all your geeky friends who are also attempting to stay away from their computers?
Actually that would be quite cool. It would be an AA for us Internet Addicts.
“Hi, I am Riayn and umm… I am addicted to the internet.”
“Hello Riayn!”
Then we would say the Serenity Prayer and share horror stories of weekends lost playing online games, nights spent blogging when we were supposed to be sleeping and how when we are out with friends all we can think about is getting home to check out emails. We would make vows to live life to its fullest and re-connect with the real world.
Then the next morning we would all wake up and blog about it.
