Rude Awakening

May 22nd, 2008 Posted in life

This morning at 6:40am my mobile phone beeped. It woke me from a deep sleep and grumbling I rolled over and grabbed the phone off my bedside table and opened the message.

This is what greeted me

What a selfish heartless unloving c*** u are line up someone else maybe the head job will be better u are a creep

The number was unknown to me, but it became immediately obvious that this poor hapless chap had just found out his girlfriend had been cheating on him. Obviously, given the time the message was sent, he had spent the entire night awake mulling over what a cruel blow fate had delivered. Summoning up all of his rage, he typed this message, punched in the bitch’s number and hit send. Unfortunately, he got the number wrong and his ‘eloquent’ message did not reach its intended recipient. Normally I just ignore SMS messages from people I don’t know, but I just couldn’t let all this rage not reach his former love.

So I sent back the following response

Please check the number before hitting send.

This poor fellow- first his girl is cheating on him and then he sends an abusive message to a complete stranger. Obviously, he is feeling like a complete failure as was evident by his short response

Sorry

So remember folks, if you are sending any kind of personal SMS message, please check the number before hitting send or else you never know who is going to receive it - and then will blog about it.

Ha! Great post. I did something similar, but not as dramatic, recently. I wrote a rant to send to twitter and then sent it to a friend on accident. She immediately called, concerned she had upset me! Yikes! Good lesson–check and double check before hitting send.

poor guy. I’ve sent emails to the wrong party (similar/same first name) so I wouldn’t doubt mis-sending an SMS. Hope he was able to track the beeeyotch down.
